Two-Year, Paid Undergraduate Internships 2022 – 2024
The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art, in partnership with Howard University, has established a program of two-year, paid undergraduate internships aimed at creating pathways to careers in museums and arts-related organizations.
Full-time undergraduate freshmen and sophomores of all majors and disciplines are invited to apply. Previous museum experience or art history coursework is not required.
Over the course of the two-year internship, participants will receive an introduction to art history and research metho- dologies and gain insights into museum work. Through seminars, mentoring, and departmental projects (both at the National Gallery and the Howard University Gallery of Art), interns will be exposed to various museum careers, including curating, conservation, research, archival work, and library services. There will be an emphasis on professional and transferrable skills, as well as on fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts and humanities.
Applications will open mid-January 2022. For more information, visit nga.gov/HowardUniversity.
